Pentridge Cellars is possibly the most unique cellaring solution in the country. Located in Coburg's historic prison precinct in Melbourne, Pentridge Cellars offers oenophiles former 19th century prison cells that have been refurbished and repurposed into private wine cellars.
The D Division building of the former HM Prison Pentridge has been meticulously preserved to respect its distinct history.
Every cellar is designed by its owner.
The building's stable temperature from the bluestone walls lends itself to storing wine. Founders and directors Michael Woodworth and Paul Tardivel say if you didn't know the history of the building, you could be forgiven for thinking it was purpose-built for cellaring.
The designers at Pentridge Cellars work closely to personalise plans for bespoke fit outs. Each cellar is fitted with ambient lighting and cutting-edge climate control technology. Choose from a range of timbers in various colours and finishes with racking and shelving styles to suit your needs. There are also display cellars on site for inspection.
Owners can host private wine tastings and events at their cellars.
As a former prison, Pentridge offers the highest level of security. The cellar doors are a thick timber and are fitted with secure locks. With all-hours access, owners can visit their collections at their convenience as well as host guests for wine tastings and events. Michael says your cellar isn't just storage, it's an experience.
Pentridge Cellars offers collectors a piece of heritage architecture, along with a one-of-a-kind cellaring solution. Each cellar is individually strata titled, which means once they are all sold, unfortunately there won't be any more.
