It's Grand Final weekend! Regardless of whether you're supporting Sydney or Brisbane, we're sure you'll be watching from the first bounce at 2.30pm.
If you're hosting a screening of the big dance, but aren't sure what to serve, below you'll find a list of footy wines. So, what makes these AFL wines? Well, they're all footy-inspired wines. We'll start with House of Arras' Grand Vintage, because we can't think of a better way to kick off the game.
Pyramid Valley's Lion's Tooth Chardonnay and Plantagenet Wines' Three Lions Riesling need no explanation for Brisbane (and Fitzroy) fans. Backing the Swans in? Leconfield's The Sydney Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon honours the winery's founder Sydney Hamilton, but it also doubles as a match for a meat pie with flaky pastry and lots of tomato sauce.
You'll find two wines from Hey Diddle Wines, which is the Barossa Valley label of former Port Adelaide players Tom Jonas and Brad Ebert, alongside winemaker Ben Chipman. And, of course, it wouldn't be a round-up of football wines without a couple of reds from Pepperjack – the official wine of the AFL.
