Australian army officers Greg Birch and Leigh Brennan left the army at the same time after 20+ years of service, with a plan to buy a property together. The only trouble was, having procured the land, they couldn't agree on the best use for the property. By 1994 they had agreed to establish a wine business, growing its own grapes and making its own wine. Greg completed an advanced diploma in wine administration at Dookie Agricultural College in Victoria. Both had full-time jobs, managing a project management and logistics business, a farm, children at home, and with Greg studying winemaking at CSU, they decided to engage Greg Gallagher as a consultant on all aspects of developing the business and, of course, making the wines. Shiraz, riesling, sauvignon blanc and sangiovese have been planted. The cellar door/cafe opened in 2019, with plans for a micro-brewery to follow later in the year.
