Granitevale Estate

Leigh Brennan and Greg Birch agreed in '94 to establish a wine business, growing its own grapes and making its own wine. Greg completed an advanced diploma in wine administration at Dookie Agricultural College in Victoria. Both had full-time jobs, managing a project management and logistics business, a farm, children at home, and with Greg studying winemaking at CSU, they decided to engage Greg Gallagher as a consultant on all aspects of developing the business and, of course, making the wines. Shiraz, riesling, sauvignon blanc and sangiovese have been planted. The cellar door and cafe opened in '19, with plans for a micro-brewery to follow. -JAMES HALLIDAY
