Our Review
The large De Beaurepaire vineyard was planted by Janet and Richard de Beaurepaire in '98 and is situated on one of the oldest properties west of the Blue Mountains in Rylstone at an altitude of 570–600m. The altitude, coupled with limestone soils and frontage to the Cudgegong River, provides grapes (and hence wines) very different from the Mudgee norm (hence they prefer to use the broader Central Ranges GI). The vineyard is planted to merlot, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, petit verdot, viognier, chardonnay, semillon and pinot gris. Exports to Singapore, the Philippines, Fiji, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia and France. -JAMES HALLIDAY
About
Established in 1998, on the ultra-cool, high elevation slopes above the picturesque town of Rylstone on the south-east border of the Mudgee G.I. (or appellation area).
The de Beaurepaire family-owned, 53 hectare vineyard on limestone rich, sandy-loam soils produces one of Australia's closest approximations of the terroirs of Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhône Valley..
A truly unique Australian terroir, enabling us to produce French-style wines - food friendly, structured and elegant.
