Dryridge Estate

New South Wales | Central Ranges Zone

Our Review

Bob and Barbara Tyrrell (no relation to Tyrrell's of the Hunter Valley) have pioneered commercial viticulture in the Megalong Valley, adjacent to the Blue Mountains National Park. They have 1.8ha of riesling, 1.1ha of shiraz and 0.9ha of cabernet sauvignon, and a further 0.9ha to be planted (possibly fiano) in due course. The vines are set on typically east-facing rolling hillsides, with granitic-derived light, sandy clay loam soils of moderately low fertility. Sunrise Lodge provides 4.5-star accommodation overlooking the vineyard. -JAMES HALLIDAY
