De Iuliis

New South Wales | Hunter Valley

James' Review

Three generations of the De Iuliis family have been involved in the establishment of the vineyard. The family acquired a property at Lovedale in 1986 and planted 18ha of vines in '90, selling the grapes from the first few vintages to Tyrrell's but retaining increasing amounts for release under the De Iuliis label. In '99 the land on Broke Road was purchased and a winery and cellar door were built prior to the 2000 vintage. In '11 De Iuliis purchased 12ha of the long-established Steven Vineyard in Pokolbin. Winemaker Michael De Iuliis completed postgraduate studies in oenology at the Roseworthy campus of Adelaide University and was a Len Evans Tutorial scholar. He has lifted the quality of the wines into the highest echelon.

About

De Iuliis - a fresh approach to creating wines truly expressive of the Hunter Valley

As one of the Hunter Valleys top producers, the De Iuliis family aims to make wines that are unique yet highly identifiable with a sense of time and place.

Our secret is attention to detail with a modern small-batch approach to winemaking. What’s not a secret is a vast array of awards and great reviews bestowed on us over the last few years.

Located in the heart of Pokolbin, the De Iuliis label draws from new and historic Hunter Valley vineyards.

One of the hardest names to say in the Australian wine industry, but also one of the best!

Information

The De Iuliis Cellar Door is the heart of our boutique winery in the beautiful Hunter Valley.

A collaboration of art and engineering in design, architect Lionel Glendenning created a modern building that provides the perfect atmosphere to sample our fine wines.

Framed by the iconic Brokenback mountain range, our landmark Cellar Door is spacious and filled with natural light. The floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor deck invite you to soak up Wine Country experience with views of manicured gardens and native fauna including our resident kangaroos. The more adventurous might like to climb our observation tower for breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

As part of a visit to De Iuliis you will have the opportunity to taste and purchase the full range of our wines, many of which are exclusive to Cellar Door.
