Stephen Drayton is the son of the late Reg Drayton and, with wife Tracy, is the third branch of the family to be actively involved in winemaking in the Hunter Valley. The property on which the vineyard is situated has been called Ivanhoe for over 140 years, and 50-year-old vines provide high quality fruit for the label. The award-winning cellar door is a replica of the old homestead (burnt down, along with much of the winery, in the 1968 bushfires).
Stephen and Tracy Drayton recently celebrated their 15th year in business with this unique and quirky cellar door. The wines are not available in shops, and is keenly supported by it's wine loving membership The Round Table. 4 packs of 6 bottles are delivered to members, 1 pack each quarter.
The vineyard is low yielding with older vines, some are over 50 years old. The older vines produce exceptional quality fruit, and the wines reflect this.
