The Swiss-born Kalt family began the establishment of Mabrook Estate in 1996, planting 3ha each of semillon and shiraz, and 1ha of verdelho. Parents Mona and Tony have used organic growing methods from the word go, but the vineyard is not certified. Daughter Larissa, having obtained an Honours degree in Medical Science at the University of Sydney, decided to pursue winemaking by working as a ?lab rat? and cellar hand at a local winery, and visited Switzerland and Italy to observe small-scale family winemaking in those countries. The red wines are all very light in structure and extract, which may be intentional. Exports to Switzerland.
