Carillion Wines

New South Wales | Hunter Valley

James' Review

In 2000, the Davis family decided to select certain parcels of fruit from their 28ha Tallavera Grove vineyard in the Hunter Valley, along with the family's other vineyards in Orange (the 30ha Carillion Vineyard) and Wrattonbully (the 90ha Stonefields Vineyard), to make wines that are a true expression of their location. To best reflect this strong emphasis on terroir, the resulting wines were categorised into three labels, named after their respective vineyards. In recent years, Tim Davis has taken over the reins from his father John, and brought these selected brands under the banner of Davis Premium Vineyards. He also launched the Lovable Rogue range of wines, which highlight his keen interest in alternative grape varieties (particularly Italian), as well as exploring innovative and experimental winemaking methods.
