James' Review

The Lusby family has established shiraz (2.2ha), sangiovese (1.6ha), merlot (1.3ha), semillon (1.2ha) and cabernet sauvignon (0.2ha) on a northeast-facing slope with red clay and limestone soil. Tintilla was the first winery to plant sangiovese in the Hunter Valley (in 1995). The family has also planted an olive grove producing four different types of olives, which are cured and sold from the estate.

About this winery

Tintilla Estate is an enticing, family vineyard that is passionate about the unique character of Hunter wines and seek to deliver individual, hand crafted wines that reflect the Pokolbin terroir.
Wines made at Tintilla include classic Hunter Semillon, barrel fermented Chardonnay, a long lasting, traditional Hunter Shiraz as well as a renowned Merlot.
We have pioneered the Italian varietal Sangiovese, in the Hunter producing a Rosato di Jupiter, a Saphira Sangiovese and the Tarantella blend, a marriage of Sangiovese, Shiraz, Cab and Merlot, and the Rosalind Sparkling Blush Sangiovese. A modern Spritzanti styled wines, The Lizzie is also extremely popular with young wine drinkers.
Dont miss our Olives, Verjus and condements

Being in the Hunter we take grate pride in making the two Hunter Classica- Semillon and Shiraz...both highly rated in the "Companion"

We also enjoy making the great Italian Food wine Sangiovese...well matched to Sydneys love of Italian Food

We have a range of liqueur wines both vintage style and older Barrel aged wines. The Edwardo vintage Semillon liqueur and Vincento 10yr. Barrel aged Liqueur are exceptional.
