Wynwood Estate

Wynwood Estate is owned by Winston Wine Pty Ltd, the Australian arm of what is described as one of the largest and fastest-growing wine distributors in China, with 100 wine stores established across the country. Wynwood has almost 30ha of low-yielding vineyards, including shiraz (8ha), merlot (5ha), chardonnay (4ha), verdelho (3ha) and muscat (1ha). It has some dry-grown 95+-year-old shiraz vines that only produce an average of 0.75 tonnes of fruit each vintage. Plantings were extended in 2014 with durif (3ha), malbec and roussanne (1ha each). Wynwood also sources cabernet franc, grenache and merlot from company-owned vineyards in the Barossa Valley. Winemaker Peter Lane has had a long career in the Hunter Valley (Mount Pleasant, Tulloch and Tyrrell's). -JAMES HALLIDAY
