Bunnamagoo Estate

New South Wales | Mudgee

James' Review

Bunnamagoo Estate (on one of the first land grants in the region) is situated near the historic town of Rockley. A 6ha vineyard planted to chardonnay, merlot and cabernet sauvignon has been established by Paspaley Pearls, a famous name in the WA pearl industry. The winery and cellar door are located at the much larger (and warmer) Eurunderee Vineyard (102ha) at Mudgee. Exports to the UK, Singapore, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China.

About

Bunnamagoo is producing wines that bring highly pleasing nuances into the Australian market. The Bunnamagoo vineyard at Rockley in the Central Ranges of NSW, has that rarity in Australia, a genuinely cool climate. Its elevation of 880 metres makes it regularly colder than Tasmania and the vines have a long and beneficial period of dormancy followed by dry summers with long hot days and cool nights, ensuring even ripening of the fruit. The Eurunderee vineyard at Mudgee also in the Central Ranges of NSW, lies on rolling slopes above the Cudgegong River. Warmth arrives sooner in the year but there is still a subtle structure to the wines originating there, due to heavy frosts in much of the season and cool summer nights.
