Craigmoor | Montrose

New South Wales | Mudgee

James' Review

Established in 1858, Craigmoor is is Mudgee's oldest winery and vineyard. The Oatley family has long owned vineyards in Mudgee, and in 2006 they acquired the Montrose winery and the Craigmoor cellar door and restaurant. Montrose was established in 1974 by Carlo Salteri and Franco Belgiorno-Nettis, Italian engineers with a love of fine wine. Coincidentally they were friends of the Oatleys - two families developing their Montrose and Rosemount wineries almost simultaneously. The cellar door is five minutes' drive from the centre of Mudgee, surrounded by picturesque vines and gum trees on the banks of Eurunderee Creek. It features picnic grounds, the Craigmoor Cricket Oval, the historic Craigmoor Winery and within it, the cellar door and a wine museum.
