Moothi Estate

New South Wales | Mudgee

Our Review

Phil and Susan Moore purchased a property on the northwest-facing slopes of Mt Frome, at an elevation of 550m, in 1995. The site has reddish-brown clay with limestone, quartz and ironstone gibber soil, well suited to the cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, merlot, chardonnay, semillon, riesling, viognier and pinot gris established on the property. The names of the wines are derived from the Koori name for Mudgee, which is Moothi; ‘Moothi Mud' is said to be local slang for Mudgee's full-bodied reds.

About

Our family owned and run vineyard and cellar door is one of the highest in Mudgee and located on the unique northwest facing slopes of Mount Frome, overlooking the Mudgee valley. Moothi Estate's vineyard was established in 1995 and we have been producing our own award winning, boutique wines since 2002. Our wines are produced using grapes from specially selected rows and individual berries are tested for ripeness, taste, colour and mature tannins. This ensures what goes in the bottle is the finest wine we could possibly produce. The cellar door provides breathtaking views across the surrounding ranges and along with our premium wines we offer cheese plates, gourmet tasting platters, local olive oils and handmade jewellery.
