Noel and Margie Gordon acquired the Burke and Hills vineyard (at an elevation of 900m) in 2008, and set about restoring the mature but run-down plantings of chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, merlot, pinot noir, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and pinot meunier. Noel's prior life as a property developer and AFL involvement made the task seem easy, and for Margie it was a return to her childhood home, for she grew up in Orange. The retention of Phil Kerney as winemaker was akin to grabbing first pick in the AFL draft.
