Lorraine Brewer (and late husband John) were grapegrowers for over 30 years, and when son Sam completed a degree in wine science at CSU, they celebrated his graduation by crushing 1t of shiraz, fermenting the grapes in a milk vat. The majority of the grapes from the estate plantings are sold, but each year a little more has been made under the Yarran banner; along the way a winery with a crush capacity of 150 tonnes has been built. Sam worked for Southcorp and De Bortoli in Australia, and overseas (in the US and China), but in 2009 decided to take the plunge and concentrate on the family winery with his parents. The majority of the grapes come from the family vineyard, but some parcels are sourced from growers, including Lake Cooper Estate in the Heathcote region. It is intended that the portfolio of regions will be gradually increased, and Sam has demonstrated his ability to make silk purses out of sow's ears, and sell them for the price of the latter. Exports to Singapore and China.
We are a proud family owned and operated winery established amongst the vines in 1998 by the Brewer family after many years of grape growing in the diverse Riverina region. Our philosophy is very simple; we make wine to be enjoyed and shared with family and friends. Wine should be approachable by all and consumed by many! Our range captures the diversity of our region together with the rich history and traditions of winemaking in the Riverina. We believe the connection between our vineyards and our wines should always be evident; hence naming our winery after the native tree growing throughout our vineyards; the Yarran tree. The making of our wines always begin in our vineyards.
