Our Review
While the Mornington Peninsula winery is Handpicked’s mothership, it continues to expand its range and vineyard holdings building a formidable line-up across several key regions, including the jewel in Australia’s sparkling crown, Arras, its latest acquisition bought (from Accolade) in late ’23. The deal also included the former Bay of Fires winery, cellar door and 24ha of vines in Tasmania. Group chief winemaker Peter Dillon is notching up frequent flyer points keeping an eye on sites in Tasmania, the Barossa, McLaren Vale, Margaret River and closer to home, the Yarra Valley and the Peninsula wines, too. The aim, he says, ‘is to make singular wines from fantastic sites that express region, variety and place’. -JAMES HALLIDAY
