Our Review
Heritage Estate (owned by Robert and Therese Fenwick) has two estate vineyards in the Granite Belt: one at Cottonvale (north) at an altitude of 960m, where it grows white varieties; and the other at Ballandean (south), a slightly warmer site, where red varieties and marsanne are planted. Heritage Estate has been a prolific award-winner in various Qld wine shows.
About
Established in 1992 by Bryce & Paddy Kassulke, Heritage Estate Wines converted an old brick cold stores at Cottonvale (Granite Belt, Queensland) into an atmospheric cellar door and establishing a vineyard next door. This location is used for the growing and making of all their wines as well as special occasions such as weddings and corporate functions. Since then Bryce & Paddy have converted and restored an old church which originated in Burleigh Heads (Gold Coast, Queensland) but was moved to Mount Tambourine. On this new location, Bryce and Paddy built the stunning glass chapel and decked area to capture the picturesque country valleys as well as views of the Gold Coast. Having won many prestigious awards for their wines in 2015 Heritage Estate Wines received a 5 star rating in James Halliday's 2016 Australian Wine Companion. They were also named, by James as one of the Ten Dark Horse wineries of 2016. The Granite Belt is one of the fastest emerging wine regions in the country. Our high altitude helps rank us as one of the coolest wine growing regions in Australia, and that, combined with our deep sandy soils helps us produce elegant yet powerfully flavoured wines.
