Our Review
Warren Smith and partner Sue moved to the Granite Belt region in 1999. With encouragement and assistance from the team at Ballandean Estate, the first vines were planted in '99, and the first vintage following in 2002. The current vineyard area is just 2ha (shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, mourvedre and muscat); further plantings are planned but will not exceed 4 ha. All wines are made onsite; the production area can be viewed from the cellar door. -JAMES HALLIDAY
