The estate vineyard (2.1ha of chardonnay) was planted in 1995, and purchased by Stewart and Laura Moodie in 2006. The vineyard is fully managed by Stewart and Laura, who do all the spraying/netting/wire lifting, pruning, fruit and shoot thinning, Laura having undertaken a year-long viticulture course. They employ backpackers for labour where needed, and only bring in professional teams for the harvest. In ’13, the Moodies created the Between the Vines brand, grafting 0.2ha of tempranillo (on chardonnay rootstock). Output has increased, and small quantities of Pinot Noir and Tempranillo are bottled under their label. Matt Jackman makes the wine in consultation with the Moodies (Simon Greenleaf makes the sparkling wines).
Nestled on the slopes of the Adelaide Hills in Longwood is our 5 acre family run vineyard. Hand-pruned, hand-netted and hand-picked, it is all our hard work between the vines that delivers the best fruit to make great quality wine.
