Casa Freschi

South Australia | Adelaide Hills

Our Review

David Freschi is a quality-obsessed vigneron, currently producing single-vineyard wines from 2 vineyards (in the Adelaide Hills and in Langhorne Creek). David Freschi’s parents, Attilio and Rosa, planted 2.5ha of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and malbec in '72 in Langhorne Creek. David expanded the plantings with 2ha of close-planted nebbiolo in ’99. The pursuit of white wines eventually led David to the Adelaide Hills, where he purchased a 3.2ha site at 580m in Ashton and planted chardonnay, pinot gris, riesling and gewürztraminer at 8000 vines/ha, all grown using organic principles. The wines are made at the gravity-fed micro-winery. Exports to the UK, Singapore, Philippines and Japan. -JAMES HALLIDAY
