The definitive guide to Australian Wines
Darryl Catlin grew up in the Barossa Valley with vineyards as his playground, picking bushvine grenache for pocket money as a child. Various stints with Saltram, the Australian Bottling Company and Vintner Imports followed in his 20s, before he moved on to gain retail experience at Adelaide's Royal Oak Cellar, London's Oddbins and McKay's Macquarie Cellars. The next stage was studying for a winemaking degree while working at Adelaide's East End Cellars. Then followed a number of years at Shaw + Smith, rising from cellar hand to winemaker, finishing in 2012 and allowing him to establish his own business the following year. Exports to the UK.

The rating is given in a range of circumstances: where there have been no tastings in the 12-month period; where there have been tastings, but with no wines scoring more than 86 points; or where the tastings have, for one reason or another, proved not to fairly reflect the reputation of a winery with a track record of success.
