Summed up perfectly in their own words: 'Living Roots is an urban winery in the Finger Lakes region of New York and a not-so-urban winery in the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia. It was founded by husband-and-wife team Sebastian (an Adelaide native and 6th generation winemaker) and Colleen Hardy (a New York native and marketer). The intercontinental label pays homage to family heritage while also branching out to new vineyards, styles and techniques. Grapes are sourced from a number of growers, including both of the Hardys' families, highlighting the natural strengths of each variety and climate in vastly different corners of the globe: the Finger Lakes and the regions surrounding Adelaide.' Living Roots is an urban winery in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York (Colleen’s hometown) and a not-so-urban winery in the Adelaide Hills (Sebastian’s hometown). Though Living Roots was founded in 2016, our legacy began six generations back, and we're continuing the tradition by making styles we love to drink, with regional and varietal expression, minimal inputs, and maximum deliciousness. We split our time between South Australia and New York doing two harvests, suiting the varieties and styles we work with to the differing climates. We source grapes from different vineyards and growers, including from both of our families, and some wines are made year to year, while others are one-offs. In the Finger Lakes, our focus is on rich whites and sparklings, and in South Australia, it’s vibrant reds. Plus, Pét-Nats and lower alcohol 'session' wines across the board.
