Don Totino migrated from Italy in 1968, and at the age of 18 became the youngest barber in Australia. He soon moved on, into general food and importing and distribution. Festival City, as the business is known, has been highly successful, recognised by a recent significant award from the Italian government. In 1998 he purchased a rundown vineyard at Paracombe in the Adelaide Hills, since extending the plantings to 29ha of chardonnay, pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc, sangiovese and shiraz. Various family members, including daughter Linda, are involved in the business. Exports to Italy and China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
