This is the birthplace of Penfolds, established by Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold in 1844; his house is still part of the immaculately maintained property. It includes 5.2ha of precious shiraz vines used to make Magill Estate Shiraz; and the original and subsequent winery buildings, most still in operation or in museum condition. In May 2015, Penfolds unveiled the redevelopment of Magill Estate with the opening of a new cellar door (where visitors can taste Grange by the glass) and Magill Estate Kitchen, a casual dining environment with a grazing menu built on local and fresh ingredients, and meant for sharing. The much-awarded Magill Estate Restaurant, with its panoramic views of the city, remains a temple for sublime food and wine matching. Exports to al major markets.
