Georges Wines

This venture began with Nick George's acquisition of the Springwood Vineyard in the Armagh Valley district of the Clare Valley. The 10ha vineyard was planted between '96 and '00, shiraz by some distance the most important of the varieties. Nick understood the proud history of the vineyard, which for a number of years supplied Leasingham with all of its grapes. He appointed O'Leary Walker as contract winemaker, an astute move. In '17 Georges Wines acquired Olssen's 26ha vineyard at Auburn, lifting its vineyards to 36ha and allowing an expansion in the production of new and existing wines. -JAMES HALLIDAY
