The Paulett story is a saga of Australian perseverance, commencing with the 1982 purchase of a property with 1ha of vines and a house, promptly destroyed by the terrible Ash Wednesday bushfires the following year. Son Matthew joined Neil and Alison Paulett as a partner in the business some years ago; he is responsible for viticulture on the property holding, much expanded following the purchase of a large vineyard at Watervale. The winery and cellar door have wonderful views over the Polish Hill River region, the memories of the bushfires long gone. Exports to the UK, the US, Denmark, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, China and NZ.
About 2 hours drive north from Adelaide is the beautiful Polish Hill River sub-region of the Clare Valley, home to Neil and Alison Paulett and their winery. A Family owned winery producing Internationally acclaimed wines. In addition to the staples of Shiraz and Riesling there is, a Late Harvest Riesling, Trillians Sparkling Riesling and Trillians Sparkling Red, Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet & Malbec blend and a Cabernet Merlot. The constant refinement and attention to detail has led to the very high quality across this significant body of work.
The future looks very bright with Neil and Alison’s son Matthew and his wife Alison (also) working in the business and assuming more and more operational management. The cellar door has become one of the ‘must see’ places in the Clare Valley, often described as having the most spectacular view from any cellar door in the country.
In 2015 the building of a small Café at the winery called “Bush Devine” happened and has become a very, very popular addition Years ago, visiting a cellar door was not as common as now and it was felt that we had to offer that extra inducement to bring people to the Valley. Now it’s just considered all part of the package, a welcoming cellar door, the premium wines, the wonderful Café and staff and the spectacular views all enhance the sense of well-being that wine lovers have come to expect.
