The Best Lot

Each year, winemaker Richard Bate scours the country for the best parcels of malbec he can find to produce the one wine he makes under his Best Lot label. Depending on the vintage, this can mean a blend from multiple regions, or a single vineyard. The name is a reference to the Lot River which bisects the French commune of Cahors, where the grape originates from. -ANNA WEBSTER
