Age and experience, it would seem, have mellowed Roman Bratasiuk - and the style of his wines. Once formidable and often rustic, they are now far more sculpted and smooth, at times bordering on downright elegance. Roman took another major step by purchasing an 160ha property high in the hill country of Clarendon at an altitude close to that of the Adelaide Hills. Here he has established a vineyard with single-stake trellising similar to that used on the steep slopes of Germany and Austria; it produces the Domaine Clarendon Syrah. He makes up to 20 different wines each year, all consistently very good, a tribute to the old vines. Unfortunately the tasting notes for the Cabernet Sauvignons were lost to a technical gremlin this year. Exports to the US and other major markets.
Clarendon Hills are vineyard and varietal expressionists striving for purity and perfection. We are dedicated to single vineyard terroir wines that rival the best in the world.
