Dave and Jen Wright (co-owners with Fred and Sarah Howard) had a combined background of dentistry, art and a CSU viticultural degree when they moved from Adelaide to McLaren Flat to become vignerons. They inherited vines planted in the early 1940s as a source for Chateau Reynella fortified wines, and their vineyards now range from 2001 plantings to some of the oldest vines in the immediate district. At the McLaren Flat vineyards, DogRidge has 70+-year-old shiraz and grenache. Quality at one end, value-packed at the other end. Exports to Canada, Singapore and Japan.
DogRidge is a family owned operation since 1992 with about 140 acres of vineyards in McLaren Vale.
The name DogRidge comes from an old ‘vigorous’ grape vine rootstock (now no longer used in modern viticulture).
We adopted the name DogRidge as it suits our extreme love for Curly Coated Retrievers and the position of the family home on a sandy ridge in McLaren Flat.
DogRidge boasts several 1940’s plantings of Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon that form the basis of our premium bottled product. When you visit our cellar door you can also taste the The Pup range including; Sparkling Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot. Join our DogHouse wine club to be privy to back vintage and special release wines.
