Grounded Cru

Grounded Cru draws fruit from high-quality vineyards in McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and the Adelaide Hills, regions that maker Geoff Thompson believes ‘talk to each other’ due to a complementary patina of mesoclimates, soil types, rainfall, altitude and varying degrees of maritime influence. Thompson was formerly chief winemaker at McPherson Wines in Nagambie. Conversely, his approach at Grounded Cru is one that seeks textural intrigue over obvious fruit, with European styling melded to Australian generosity. -NED GOODWIN MW
