James' Review

Possums Vineyard is owned by Dr John Possingham and Carol Summers. They have two vineyards in McLaren Vale - one at Blewitt Springs, the other at Willunga - covering shiraz (20a), cabernet sauvignon (16ha) and chardonnay (14ha), with lesser plantings of pinot gris, viognier and malbec. Winemaker Pieter Breugem came from South Africa via the US and Constellation Wines. In October 2018 DOWIE DOOLE purchased Possums Vineyard and brands. Exports to the UK, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong and China.

Possums Vineyards are situated in the sub regions of Blewitt Springs and Willunga in McLaren Vale. The vineyards were planted in 1980 by Dr John Possingham, former research scientist with the CSIRO. Grapes from the vineyards were sold to neighbouring wineries until the first estate grown wine was made - the 2000 Possums Vineyard Shiraz. The vineyard is still family owned and the wines are made on site by Pieter Breugem under the Possums Vineyard and Possingham and Summers and Dr John labels
