Cape Jaffa Wines

South Australia | Mount Benson

James' Review

Cape Jaffa was the first of the Mount Benson wineries, its winery made from local rock (between 800 and 1000 tonnes are crushed each year). Cape Jaffa's fully certified biodynamic vineyard provides 50% of production, with additional fruit sourced from a certified biodynamic grower in Wrattonbully. Having received the Advantage SA Regional Award in '09, '10 and '11 for its sustainable initiatives in the Limestone Coast, Cape Jaffa is a Hall of Fame inductee. Exports to the UK, Canada, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore and China.

Cape Jaffa is not the most famous place in the world but it is where Anna and Derek Hooper love to make wines - En Soleil - in the sunshine. Having become well acquainted with the land, earth, air and vines over the past 20 odd years, they choose to create wines in harmony with the environment...and life.
Living on the edge - where the often harsh and unpredictable Southern Ocean meets South Australia's Limestone Coast, Anna and Des produce wines that reflect the lifestyle they lead and the region they love. Wines with natural balance and honest personality...a unique lifestyle worth bottling!
Unashamedly they are more trailbreakers than traditionalists and make no apologies for working to the beat of their own drum. Between them they are constantly trialing new ways of growing, blending and vinifying without being constrained by convention. As well as growing fruit in their own biodynamic vineyards, they also source from other great sites discovered across the Limestone Coast - choosing to partner with growers who share their commitment to tread lightly in the vineyard and do all they can to let nature take its course.
