About

Cape Jaffa is not the most famous place in the world, but it is where Derek Hooper and his team love to make wine. Living on the edge where the Limestone Coast meets the Southern Ocean they make wines that reflect the lifestyle they lead in the region they love. They have three distinct ranges that each tell a different story. Their Biodynamic La Lune and En Soleil ranges are made with a hands-off approach. Single vineyard and varietal they tell the story of the place from where they came. The ‘Made Differently’ range where blending of non-traditional pairings, skin contact whites and the use of unusual fermentation vessels creates highly drinkable and unique wines. The core CJ where grape growing, winemaking and blending all come together to create wines that boast drinkability and style. They are unashamedly more trailbreakers than traditionalists and make no apologies for walking to the beat of their own drum. They are constantly trialling new ways of growing, blending and vinifying without being constrained by convention. As well as growing fruit in their own biodynamic vineyards, they also source from other great sites discovered across the Limestone Coast - choosing to partner with growers who share their commitment to tread lightly in the vineyard and do all they can to let nature take its course.
