Mt Jagged's vineyard was established in 1989 by the White family, with close-planted semillon, chardonnay, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz. The vineyard sits at 350m above sea level on a diversity of soils, ranging from ironstone/clay for the red varieties to sandy loam/clay for the whites. The cool climate vineyard (altitude and proximity to the ocean) produces fresh, crisp, zingy white wines and medium-bodied savoury reds of complexity and depth. In Jan '13 the property was purchased by Tod and Suzanne Warmer. -JAMES HALLIDAY
Mt Jagged Wines is situated at the highest point on the Victor harbor Road, only 20 minutes from McLaren Vale and Victor Harbour.
Established in 1989, Tod and Suzanne Warmer acquired Mt jagged Wines in 2013 after a major lifestyle sea-change. With their hands on approach, they can be found at the cellar door and in the vineyard providing visitors with their personal insights in vineyard life and where their wines came from.
The cellar door is surrounded by panoramic lookout views of the vineyard flowing down the hillside with Lake Alexandrina gleaming over the hilltops, the Coorong and its sandhills and a large sweep of the Southern Ocean.
At 320 metres above sea level, Mt jagged is a cool climate winery typified by warm days and cool evening breezes flowing from the Southern Ocean up the Currency Creek valley. This provides for a longer ripening period, creating wines of deep complexity and real varietal characteristics.
