James' Review

Judy and Ian Robinson operated a sawmill at Lower Barrington, on the main tourist trail to Cradle Mountain, and when they planted 500 vines in 1993 the aim was to do a bit of home winemaking. The urge to expand the vineyard and make wine on a commercial scale soon occurred, and they embarked on a six-year plan, planting 1ha per year in the first four years and building the cellar and tasting rooms during the following two years. The recent sale of Barringwood to Neville and Vanessa Bagot hasn’t seen any significant changes to the business.

Barringwood vineyard is located on a steep north facing slope over looking the Don Valley in Tasmania’s North West. Established in 1993 the 4 hectare vineyard rises to an elevation of 280m and has a long mild growing season.
