Beautiful Isle Wines

Cynthea Semmens and David Feldheim established this business as a vinous lovechild after their permanent return to Tasmania. The Beautiful Isle brand name was that used by the founder of the apple orchard in 1880, but the name and design of the striking labels had fallen out of copyright and trademark. The apple shed on the Marion’s Vineyard housed boxes full of the labels that had been used by negociants who purchased the fruit, put the labels on the apple boxes and crates, and exported to England. The cellar door opened in ‘17, the bottles bearing designs taken from the heyday of the apple growing, and Beautiful Isle Wines became a financial stepping stone for the ultimate resolution of the ownership of Marion’s Vineyard. -JAMES HALLIDAY
