The production may be small, but the story of owners Max and Siobhan Marriot is anything but. Max started his 15 years in wine in NZ studying at Lincoln University, emerging with a bachelor of viticulture and oenology. He then managed vineyards in Central Otago, and worked vintages in the Mosel, Oregon (Cristom) and Burgundy (Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair). After a few years in Oregon, 'my wife Siobhan and I discovered we were expecting twins, so we made the decision to repatriate ourselves and settle in Tasmania.' Max is involved with Clarence House and also leases/manages the Tinderbox Vineyard. Anim is a very small label, named after their children (Audrey, Niamh and Imogen), but also has other musical and Latin meanings. Grapes are sourced from the Clarence House and Tinderbox vineyards, Tinderbox the source of pinot, chardonnay and riesling, the 'fun grapes' coming from Clarence House.
