Our Review
Laurel Bank was established by Kerry Carland in 1986 but deliberately kept a low profile by withholding release of most of its early wines. When the time came, Kerry entered the Hobart Wine Show in '95 and won the trophy for Most Successful Tasmanian Exhibitor. The moderate slope of the north-facing vineyard overlooking the Derwent River has two radically different soil types: one high vigour, the other low. Intelligent matching of variety and soil has led to a natural balance and (relative) ease of canopy management - and balanced wines.
