Billy Button Wines

Victoria | Alpine Valleys

Our Review

Jo Marsh makes light of the numerous awards she won during her studies for her degree in agricultural science (oenology) at the University of Adelaide. She then won a contested position in Southcorp’s Graduate Recruitment Program; she was appointed assistant winemaker at Seppelt Great Western in 2003. By ’08 she had been promoted to acting senior winemaker, responsible for all wines made onsite. After Seppelt, she became winemaker at Feathertop, and after 2 happy years decided to step out on her own in ’14. She has set up a grower network in the Alpine Valleys and makes a string of excellent wines. Billy Button also shares a cellar door with Bush Track Wines in the heart of Myrtleford.

About

Billy Button Wines burst onto the scene in 2014. Our premium wines are the culmination of three factors: emerging region, varietal diversity and an inspired winemaking vision. The botanists among us will know that this name belongs to the bouncy yellow balls of goodness that colour the mountain tops of the Alpine Valleys. These flowers (Craspedia to be correct) are a native daisy and create a sea of yellow during the warmer months, blanketing the mountains of the Alpine Valleys region. With a wealth of established vineyards in the region tended to by dedicated growers, there was no reason for Billy Button to establish our own vineyards. Instead we work with a number of highly accomplished local growers to secure some of the best fruit available in the region.
