Our Review
Mark and Glenys Handley did not rush when establishing Glenmar Wines. Planning of the single-site vineyard began in 1998, and they waited seven years for the first vintage. This was not due to any lack of skill or commitment, for the vineyard is managed (on a part-time basis) by Mark Schultz, who has viticultural fingers in the Goulburn Valley region. The same applies to the winemaking, carried out by Sam Plunkett and Victor Nash in the Strathbogie Ranges winery now known as Plunkett Fowles. Both initial releases won medals in important wine shows. -JAMES HALLIDAY
