I first visited this vineyard when it was known as Boroka Vineyard and marvelled at the location in the wild country of Halls Gap. It wasn't very successful: Mount Langi Ghiran acquired it in 1998 and it was a useful adjunct to Mount Langi Ghiran for a while, but by 2013 it had outlived its purpose. It was then that the opportunity arose for the Drummond family, led by Aaron, to purchase the somewhat rundown vineyard. They moved quickly; while the '13 vintage was made at Mount Langi Ghiran, thereafter it was managed under contract by Circe Wines (Aaron Drummond's partnership business with Dan Buckle).
Our vineyard was planted on the steep Eastern slopes of the Grampians in 1969. A cooler site being at high elevation (260M) and East facing in aspect. Mean January Temperature (MJT) 20.6 degrees C The soil is red clay loam. It is old, dating back 380 million years ago to the Devonian period. As the soils are old and weathered the vines are naturally low yielding.
Shiraz, riesling, cabernet sauvignon.
With amazing views over the Grampians and our vineyards, our Cellar door is the perfect place to taste and enjoy our wine and produce platter. With a kids playground as well, plan to stay a while.
Open Wednesday to Sunday 10am - 5pm.
