Our Review
Lindenderry at Red Hill is a sister operation to Lancemore Hill in the Macedon Ranges and Lindenwarrah at Milawa. It has a 5-star country house hotel, conference facilities, a function area, day spa and restaurant on 16ha of gardens. It also has a little over 3ha of vineyards, planted equally to pinot noir and chardonnay 20 years ago. Notwithstanding the reputation of the previous winemakers for Lindenderry, the wines now being made by Barney Flanders are the best yet. He has made the most of the estate-grown grapes, adding cream to the cake by sourcing some excellent Grampians shiraz.
About
The Lindenderry vineyard is over 20 years old. With 8.5 acres under vine, we have near equal plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, from which we make our Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Rose.
Our Macedon vineyard at Lancemore Hill was planted in the late 1990s, we have 1.6 hectares of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. In most vintages we produce a Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, however due to drought conditions in the growing season for the 2009 vintage we were unable to harvest enough Pinot Gris. The 2008 is currently available and is drinking beautifully.
Our Milawa vineyard at Lindenwarrah was originally planted in the mid 1980's and owned by Brown Brothers. With 1.6 hectares of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, we choose one variety at each given vintage to produce a North East Victorian red from. Despite bush fires and drought we have had some strong vintages and produced some beautiful reds which complement the Lindenderry label.
