An old favourite, relaunched in late 1997 with a range of premium wines cleverly marketed through an attractive cellar door and bistro at the historic winery on the banks of the Murray. It is run by Eliza Brown (CEO), sister Angela (online communications manager) and brother Nick (vineyard and winery manager). They are perhaps better known as the trio who fulfil the same roles at All Saints Estate. Exports to the UK and the US.
Established in 1860 St Leonards Vineyard is the home of the opulent 'Wahgunyah' Shiraz. A hideaway for wine and food lovers, on the bend of the Murray River.
Overlooking a tranquil lagoon on a bend of the majestic Murray River, St Leonards Vineyard is a picturesque and relaxing destination. Much more than just a winery, St Leonards is a place to truly unwind.
For over 25 years, St Leonards Vineyard has been known to buck the system. The vineyard has always been well known for producing excellent table wines in a fortified wine producing area. In a micro-climate of it's own, nestled on the Murray River, St Leonards has been producing a mix of classic and curious varieties varieties that have become firm favourites of there devoted followers: from the usual suspects, shiraz, chardonnay and semillon, to lesser known cabernet franc. All seem to like where they are, producing wines with vibrant fruit characters and great balance.
Eliza, Angela and Nicholas Brown form the fourth-generation wine family who own and run St Leonards Vineyard (and All Saints Estate) in Wahgunyah, part of the famed Rutherglen wine region of North-east Victoria.
All three share the same vision: innovation, youthful passion, sustainability, a healthy respect for traditional winemaking and a talented team of individuals to see it all come to life.
'We're passionate about making outstanding wine, whilst pushing the boundaries. And, of course leaving our property in a better state for the next generation. In an ideal world, everything in the vineyard should be sustainable.'
Eliza Brown, CEO St Leonards Vineyard
