Our Review

This family-owned winery is led by Matt Fowles, with chief winemaker Victor Nash heading the winemaking team. The large vineyard is primarily focused on riesling, chardonnay, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon, but also includes arneis, vermentino, pinot gris, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, mourvedre, sangiovese and merlot. Marketing is energetic, with the well known Ladies who Shoot their Lunch label also available presented in a 6-bottle gun case. Exports to the UK, the US, Canada and China.

About

Fowles Wine is nestled in the rugged and beautiful Strathbogie Ranges, located an hour and a half drive northeast of Melbourne. The vineyards are peppered with massive ancient granite boulders, at elevations between 430 and 550 metres above sea level. Fowles own and manage 360 acres of vines across two vineyards called Upton Run and Billi's. The style and character of Fowles Wine reflects their cool climate home, producing white wines which have great fruit intensity, minerality and are light and fresh. Fowles’ red wines are highly perfumed, intensely coloured and powerful, yet restrained and elegant.

Information

Our Cellar Door or 'Tasting Room' (as we call it) combines wonderful wine with bites to eat and an impressive view of the surrounding Strathbogie Ranges. The room is refined yet casual with lots of space for you to spread out and try a wine tasting 'flight' or for you to discuss our wines with one of our friendly and knowledgeable team. There are always limited cellar door releases around, as well as samples from our museum. Be sure to ask!

Information

Fowles Restaurant is a Strathbogie Ranges food and wine hub. The Fowles kitchen is obsessed with sourcing fresh local produce and produce from the Fowles family’s organic vegetable garden. The menus range from extensive breakfast menu, to a ‘light bites’ menu of charcuterie and antipasti, to a full lunch and desert menu. Fowles has a huge outdoor dining area with a separate casual yet fine menu, cooked to order. The philosophy behind our menu centres around seasonal flavours to match perfectly with our wine, with a focus on ethically raised farm produce and offal as well as sustainably sourced wild game. We think every meal should be a celebration; a celebration of region, animals ethically raised, produce well grown and wine well crafted.
