The Rosa and Arena families established Mount Cathedral Vineyards in 1995, at an elevation of 300m on the north face of Mt Cathedral. The first plantings were 1.2ha of merlot and 0.8ha of chardonnay, followed by 2.5ha of cabernet sauvignon and 0.5ha of cabernet franc in 1996. No pesticides or systemic chemicals are used in the vineyard. Oscar Rosa, chief winemaker, has a Bachelor of Wine Science from CSU, and gained practical experience working at Yering Station in the late '90s. Exports to Singapore.
Mount Cathedral Vineyards was established in 1995 on the northern slopes of the breathtaking Cathedral Ranges situated just to the north of the Great Dividing Range in central Victoria, Australia.
The philosophy behind the establishment of Mount Cathedral Vineyards is one that is still central to the operation today. That is, the production of high quality fruit in order to produce wines of high quality and character. This has been our driving force from initial vineyard site selection right through to the production of wines today.
