Ros Ritchie was winemaker at the Ritchie family's Delatite winery from 1981 to 2006, but moved on to establish her own winery with husband John in '08 on a vineyard near Manfield. They became shareholders in Barwite Vineyards in 2012 (planted to chardonnay, pinot noir, riesling and pinot gris), and in '14 established their new winery there. Apart from gewurztraminer (grown at Dead Man's Hill Vineyard), they work with local growers, foremost the Kinlock, McFadden, Timbertop and Baxendale Vineyards, the last planted by the very experienced viticulturist Jim Baxedale (and wife Ruth) high above the King River Valley. All vineyards are managed with minimal spray regimes. The cellar door is located at the historic Magnolia House at Mansfield, open on select weekends, hosting seasonal wine dinners and special events.
