Our Review
Arguably the most successful of all Yarra Valley wineries, not only in terms of the sheer volume of production but also the quality of its wines. It is run by the husband and wife team of Leanne De Bortoli and Steve Webber, but owned by the De Bortoli family. The wines are released in three quality (and price) groups: at the top Single Vineyard, then Estate Grown and in third place Villages. Small volume labels increase the offer with Riorret Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, Melba, La Boheme, an aromatic range of Yarra Valley wines and Vinoque, enabling trials (at the commercial level) of new varieties and interesting blends in the Yarra. The BellaRiva Italian varietal wines are sourced from the King Valley, and Windy Peak from Victorian regions including the Yarra, King Valley and Heathcote. The PHI wines are made from the 7.5ha Lusatia Park Vineyard established by the Shelmerdine family in the Yarra Valley, purchased in November '15, and from Heathcote. Exports to all major markets.
About
At De Bortoli a “hands on’ approach in the vineyard and “hands off” approach in the winery reflects the family philosophy of allowing fruit and terroir to be fully expressed in every bottle.
The De Bortoli Estate is one of the largest in the Yarra Valley with more than 240 hectares under vine.
