Wignalls Wines

Western Australia | Albany

Our Review

While the estate vineyards have a diverse range of sauvignon blanc, semillon, chardonnay, pinot noir, merlot, shiraz, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, founder Bill Wignall was one of the early movers with pinot noir, producing wines that, by the standards of their time, were well in front of anything else coming out of WA (and up with the then limited amounts being made in Victoria and Tasmania). The establishment of an onsite winery and the assumption of the winemaking role by son Rob, with significant input from Michael Perkins, saw the quality and range of wines increase. Exports to Denmark, Japan, Singapore and China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
