Sunnyhurst Winery

The vineyard here was established by Mark and Lainie Staniford in 2000, realising Mark's dream of producing bordeaux-style wines in Australia. He originally planted 0.25ha each of semillion, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, all of which were hand picked, basket pressed and traditionally vinified down to the cork seal. In 2017 the baton passed to new owners Geoff Herbert and Marie-Pierre Dussault who continue to produce wines in the same vein, with what is now 2.5ha of dry-grown semillon, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and a little petit verdot. -JAMES HALLIDAY
