Our Review
This is the retirement venture of Michael and Ilonka Edwards. They moved to the Preston Valley in WA in '05 and purchased a property that had a patch of cabernet sauvignon planted in '99. They now have 3ha of grenache, mourvèdre, graciano, tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and malbec, purchasing chardonnay and sauvignon blanc from a neighbour. They have an unusual approach to marketing, starting with the winery name linked to the Roman words for Bacchus and bacchanalian frenzies induced by wine, lots of wine. Wines are available through a membership system where the price of each bottle is determined by said members, which is why no prices are listed here (or on the winery’s website). -JAMES HALLIDAY
